, My internship was completed at Ascension Medical Group, one of the largest nonprofit healthcare systems in the United States. Ascension Medical Group operates as part of Ascension and provides a wide range of services, including primary care, specialty care, and preventative health services.

Primary Responsibilities and Projects

Collaborated with providers, nurses, and administrative staff to support daily operations across gastroenterology and primary care clinics.

Led a Quality Improvement initiative focused on improving provider performance on key clinical quality metrics.

Evaluated employee turnover trends and staff engagement facts to recommend operational and workplace improvements.

Designed and distributed patient education and prevention-focused flyers to promote health awareness and preventative care practice

Organized and assembled staff appreciation baskets to support employee morale, engagement, and workplace culture.
Learning Objectives and Outcomes
During my internship at Ascension Medical Group, I gained a deeper understanding of how healthcare operations, quality improvement, and teamwork support patient care. I was expected to be professional, adaptable, and proactive while supporting both clinical and administrative tasks. I met these expectations by working closely with different teams and taking initiative on my quality improvement project. I also applied my analytical and communication skills to real challenges in the clinic. In addition, I helped with patient education and staff engagement activities. This experience strengthened my confidence and better prepared me for a future role in healthcare management.
